What We Believe About The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the least understood part of the trinity of God. The Holy Spirit is more than showy effects meant to convince us that God is with us. The Holy Spirit is the indwelling presence, the seal of our inheritance. He is our counselor, comforter and reveals the truth of our loving God.The Holy Spirit is the ongoing work in our lives that bring us out of hiding and helps us to confront the parts of our lives that are distorted and disconnected from God. The Holy Spirit’s power reveals that sin still hidden inside of us, pulls us to repentance and transforms God’s image deep within us.

It is the Holy Spirit that is the constant revelation of God in our lives that helps us understand mysteries about God that have been hidden in our lives. As our counselor the Holy Spirit instructs us in the ways of truth and helps us turn our lives around and to live more faithfully as God’s servants in this crazy mixed up world today.

The Holy Spirit is a gift from God that lives inside those who believe in Jesus. He produces God’s character in the lives of believers, in a way we can’t do on our own. He builds into our lives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. God simply asks us to rely on Him to produce these qualities in our lives.

What about non-believers?

The Holy Spirit convicts the hearts non-believers to God’s truth concerning how sinful we are, how we need God’s forgiveness and the righteousness of Jesus, tugging on all of our hearts and minds, asking us to repent and turn to God for forgiveness and a new eternal life.
